Today, my long awaited Kotobukiya Yoko arrived in my mailbox. I’d also recently received Ban Dai’s rendition of Yumemiya Arika in the past few weeks, so let’s take a look at these newcomers. Rin is also new to my family this month, but since she already got her own post, I won’t talk about her here.

My first Dollfie
A couple days ago, I got a large package from UPS. It came in “signature required,” and fortunately I was home that day working on flooring. Being busy all day with manual labor and then fireworks in the evening, I didn’t have much chance to really do a large batch of photos. I did, however, manage to get her unpacked and dressed.
I’m very impressed with the level of detail in the Dollfie and the ease at which she’s posed. There are a lot of little nice touches with the clothing, from the buttons on the sleeves to the shoes and stockings. The wig was also pre-styled, which is good for me as I would have had a heck of a time trying to get the bows on and the hair in the right place…
Quick update
First off, happy 4th of July everyone! It’s been a day full of excitement for me and also extremely tiring. First, I completed the previously mentioned flooring project. All of the boards have been put into place. The only thing remaining is to patch a few areas and put in the molding around the edges. Looks pretty good, if I say so myself!
There’s also still a little cleanup left to do…
Secondly, Dollfie Rin arrived on my doorstep. After fumbling around for an hour, I finally got her fully assembled and clothed. I still need to get some sort of a stand and head cap for her, but in all very nice! The one thing I wasn’t expecting was how big she was going to be. She’s extremely tall. I have a 24in diagonal monitor, and she towers over it. I’d initially thought about putting her in the display cabinet, but she would easily take up the height of two shelves…
More detailed write ups of both items are to come, but for now, I’m too exhausted to stay awake! The flooring project really took a lot out of me… ^.^
Anticipating a new arrival
Yesterday, I received an email from VolksUSA. In it was a tracking number. Dollfie Rin is on her way! Since I’m still new to the world of ball jointed dolls (BJDs), I still have quite a bit to learn about the things and accessories I’ll need to get. It turns out that the darker wigs have a tendency to stain, so I’ll need to get a cloth cap to put between them. Sadly, Volks is currently out of stock, so I’ll need to put that purchase on hold until one is available.
Tracking estimates delivery this Friday, so expect to see the first photos this weekend!
My first Nendoroid
I got my first Nendoroid recently, and I’m happy to announce that it’s also my first Yoko figure! First impressions are very positive. The parts have a very chunky and solid feel without being too heavy. The facial expressions swap out easily and there is very little play once the hair pieces are snapped on. Downsides that I discovered are that the appendages require a bit of working to get in place and stay on. I often ran into issues where her hair interfered with the arm placement, resulting in the arm falling off. Also, since they aren’t jointed, there is little range of movement.
More June Loot
Got home today and found a couple boxes on my doorstep. Like the first loot post from earlier this month, one box was from RightStuf and one was from HLJ.
Today’s arrivals: High School Girls vol. 1-9, Tsukihime vol. 6, Nendoroid Yoko, ARIA artbook, ARIA door hangers, Tales of Vesperia promotional literature, and Lucky Star bookmarks. Continue reading “More June Loot”
L4D x Lucky Star Win!
This pretty much speaks for itself. Sourced from StrayShadow. The most awesome piece of fanart ever! I’m wondering if the artist can do a print or have a high resolution version that can be made into a poster…
While on the subject of L4D fanart, I found some pretty interesting comics over at accelagirl’s page. There are a lot of neat “backstory” comics about how the different special zombies came to be, though this has to be my favorite:
Apparently people were calling her stuff “anime” and she got tired of it. So she actually drew a manga-esque L4D comic, complete with Bishonen Bill, Afro Lewis, Ninja Francis, Boobalicious Zoey, and tentacles. Translation available here, though I’m sure you can figure out what’s being said just by the situation… That and it’s more fun to make up your own translations. 🙂
First loot of June & Kagami Cosplay ver. review
When I got home today, I found a couple of small boxes on my front porch. One was marked from HLJ and the other from RightStuf. Behold, the first loot of June!
Today’s arrivals: Kagami cosplay ver. Figma, Excel Saga 19, Kannazuki no Miko 1, Sunshine Sketch 2, and Enchanter 10. The manga isn’t anything terribly special, so let’s focus on Kagami.

May acquisitions, part 2
I wasn’t expecting to get anything else this month, but imagine my surprise when I came home and saw the above on my doorstep. Two boxes from HLJ and one big flat package from RedOctane. What did the postman bring me today? Keep reading to find out!
New Arrival: FREEing 1/4 scale Ryoko Asakura bunny
She took awhile to track down, but I finally found the 1/4 scale FREEing Ryoko Asakura bunny figure for a decent price. Thanks to MooMooCow on Dannychoo.com, who made the decision to part with this beautiful figure and sell her to me for the great price of $125. Up until this point, I’d been scouting out eBay and other sites, but without much success. The lowest going price for a brand new figure had a minimum price tag of $150 plus shipping, with some listings going well into the $200 range. I like the Ryoko bunny, but I don’t like it that much.
